Maza Endorsed By Boscola and Grucela
Legislators And Candidate Discuss Special Session And Promise To Work To ‘Ax The Property Tax’

EASTON, September 3 — Jim Maza, the Democratic candidate in Pennsylvania’s 24th State Senate district, received the endorsement of State Senator Lisa Boscola (D-18) and State Representative Rich Grucela (D-137) in Easton City’s Center Square today.

Maza presented Boscola and Grucela with an ax, symbolizing the commitment of the three to ‘Ax the Property Tax Now!’

“Senator Boscola and Representative Grucela have represented Northampton County in Harrisburg for more than a decade and I’m delighted to know of the confidence they’ve placed in me with their endorsement,” said Maza.

“As a county commissioner and township supervisor, Jim has proven his bipartisan leadership ability. He will be an outstanding senator, and I look forward to working with him in the Senate,” said Boscola.

“I also know the Senator and Representative will battle to ‘Ax the Property Tax’ as I’ve pledged to do. Should the special session fail to accomplish real reform, I’ll enthusiastically join the battle with them come January.”

Senator Boscola sponsored a petition calling upon the governor to convene a special session of the General Assembly to deal with property tax reform. After receiving the signatures of more than half the members of the General Assembly, Article II Section IV of the Pennsylvania Constitution required the governor to convene the special session.

“Senator Boscola and Representative Grucela understand, as I do, that it’s time for the legislature to put up or shut up on this issue. This crisis has been thirty years in the making and it’s going to take Republicans and Democrats working honestly together to fix it,” said Maza.
